Creating Reality, Practicality

1-7-5

Somebody mentioned again the other day about the practicality of "all this stuff you're into." Since it's been mentioned by a few of us in the group as well, I thought I'd mention a couple things here on the website.

One of the biggest changes that comes after working with these ideas for a while, particularly "You Create Your Reality," is a massive reduction of fear. Being unplugged from media programming and mass consciousness is a great help for this, too, which is why I'm always excited for people who turn off the tv and "news."

We are trained to fear random events, crime, nature, all sorts of things. All day long, we can be presented by "horrors." An extreme version of this is a friend of mine who cannot live without a man in the house because she doesn't feel safe, and she was shocked to learn I'd gone to L.A. by myself— too scary. I told her it wasn't scary, it was fun. Another friend mentioned that she was glad I returned safe from my trip to Florida. I know she meant well but the idea of not being "safe" while I was gone never occurred to me, and in the face of her well-wishes I was shocked and nearly argumentative.

There are so many base assumptions that can be thrown out the window. When we start exploring these ideas we can practice with little things, seeing for ourselves that we can change our mood by our thoughts and change small circumstances by intention. When we go further with it, major shifts happen that effect the underlying precepts by which we live.

I've mentioned my boredom with the medical gestalt and somebody thought I was against doctors and healers, which of course is not true. It's the gestalt I don't care for— the idea that this way is the only way. Doctors and healers are great tools-- we use them to say "yes I can change my experience by using this tool." I have used the tools and have been the tool for others in this way to beneficial ends; there's nothing wrong with that. If a person believes in doctors and healers there's no reason they shouldn't run with that idea and use it for all it's worth. (Same with health foods, supplements, magnets, ionizers and all that stuff that goes along with "alternative health".)

Where the not-so-beneficial aspect comes in is when we're locked into training that says that's the only way we can make those changes. (This is incredibly obvious for those of us who've had those "mystery medical problems" that doctors or healers couldn't fix, when we decided we'd had enough and changed things ourselves.) When we are taught we have to rely on someone else for our power/ability, ultimately that's not the greatest thing for us. We are the ones who make the changes; the doctor is just what we use as a catalyst to convince ourselves that we can now "get better." Same with the pills. Nothing wrong with this— again, no judgment. If it works, use it. Eventually though I think it would be great if everybody realized they didn't need them. :) The medical gestalt also includes ideas of germs and diseases spreading, and illnesses & aging just happening, which keep people in fear. They don't spread, and they don't just happen. But a person can have the experience that seems to follow those rules if they believe that's how things work.

The most extreme sort of "health" scenario is people who are afraid of almost every kind of food— been there done that— I did my research for years and found out all sorts of terrible things, couldn't eat, couldn't drink without thinking of what sorts of negative fill-in-the-blank were in there, and despite my "ultra-healthy" lifestyle was still sick, a lot. Duh. :) I never felt better than after I threw all that research in the trash. :)

When we pay attention to what we're doing, what our focus of attention is and what our beliefs are, and start to see the connections, radical beneficial changes can happen in our health and well-being, physical, emotional, mental. It's not just about parking spaces, although after my trip to L.A. I realized why that's such a big deal LOL— there's no parking out there! It's about freedom, an entirely different framework for life, and yes it can "bring" many dollars and pretty things, but the most value to me is what can't be bought. Peace of mind, openness of heart, choice. I'm still working on it, still present myself with challenges to explore— but the contrast to the old training sometimes is absolutely amazing.
