archives, Response to a post about dis-ease

5-3-2004

I come from a perspective that every body already has the potential for any sort of dis-ease, that we don't really 'catch' them but instead 'activate' them, create them for ourselves when we have a reason to, like there's something we want to know about self that we haven't been paying attention to, for example simply that we need to slow down or change direction, or more complex ideas. (If my emotional or mental state is such that I create dis-ease in the body I consider that to be something I want to know for myself, so I can choose to change the underlying beliefs/ definitions.) The labeling of the dis-ease then is not really important to me and sometimes can detour me from reorganizing/ healing, but I can see how it could be useful to others.

One of my friends has replaced words like pain in her vocabulary with 'sensation', and I have found this to be a useful tool for myself to shift my attitude a little and not be so resistant to it, the resistance making it stick around. Also the idea of "energy adjustments" that just happen in the body sometimes, instead of labeling as a certain sort of dis-ease or ailment, can be very helpful for me. ..the idea that I don't necessarily need a process to get rid of whatever it is, but to simply allow it and let it move through. My favorite though, and something that works along with the others, is a suggestion from Seth and other spooks who say every moment is an entirely new reality, and doesn't necessarily have to contain all of the details from the last moment. To tell myself, okay yes I was feeling ___, but now I am starting to feel better.

So anyway, the idea of judgment/ resistance creating pain and exhaustion definitely makes sense to me, and I've experienced that as well as the idea of changing the state of consciousness, with compassion/ understanding and changing beliefs/ definitions, bringing great relief. :)

Thanks! :)

oh yeah, one more, an idea was also presented that when we feel exhausted/ miserable, chances are we are focusing on something that is not in alignment with our true self, who we really are (beyond ideas of who we've been taught we're supposed to be, one could say "higher self".) This has helped me a lot as well, to acknowledge what I was focused on and choose something else that feels better (more in alignment with who I really am.)

I had an excellent blatant example of this the other day... from humming along to noticing I was feeling totally wiped out and getting more miserable and bitter by the minute— and I was glazing pottery in my studio with an abstract sort of organic design, something I love to do! I retraced my mental steps and found the 'culprit', an assumption that something that happened in a 'negative' way in the past was going to happen like that again, bringing with it ideas of futility. Well jeez no wonder I was feeling like crap lol. I recognized that idea to be not in alignment with who I know I am now, chose a better idea, and bingo-- instant energy and happiness returned.
